Benzodiazepine Rehab for First Responders
Confidential, trauma-informed benzodiazepine treatment for firefighters, police, EMS, nurses, and other first responders.
Available 24/7 · 100% confidential
Why First Responders Are Often Prescribed Benzodiazepines
First responders carry repeated exposure to trauma, long and irregular shifts, and chronic sleep disruption. Anxiety, PTSD symptoms, and insomnia are common, and benzodiazepines are sometimes prescribed to take the edge off or to sleep between calls.
Because the medication works quickly and the job culture often discourages showing struggle, use can continue for years. Dependence builds quietly, and many first responders worry that seeking help could affect their job, their license, or how colleagues see them.
Stopping abruptly is dangerous, and doing it alone on a demanding schedule often fails.

Confidential, Trauma-Informed Care
Care is built around the realities of the job and the trauma it can leave behind.

Trauma-informed therapy
PTSD symptoms, moral injury, and the weight of difficult calls are addressed directly through therapy and dual diagnosis care.

First Responder Benzodiazepine Rehab Questions
Straight answers to the questions people ask most.
Will treatment affect my job or certification?
Your information is protected by federal privacy rules and shared only with your written consent unless the law requires otherwise. We can talk through timing and documentation during intake.
Why are benzodiazepines risky for first responders?
They can impair alertness and judgment, interact with alcohol, and cause dependence. Abrupt discontinuation can also cause seizures.
Do you treat PTSD along with benzodiazepine dependence?
Yes. PTSD symptoms, anxiety, and sleep problems are assessed and treated together with the taper.
Can I taper while working?
Safe tapering depends on your dose and health, and many first responders need supervised care. An assessment sets the right level of care.
What about sleep after I stop?
Non-sedative approaches, including therapy for insomnia, sleep routines, and mindfulness, are used to rebuild sleep.
Is peer or colleague involvement part of care?
Only with your consent. Your privacy comes first.
How long does treatment take?
It depends on your dose, history, and needs. An assessment sets the level of care.
Does insurance cover this care at iRely?
Most PPO plans are accepted, usually out of network. Call 818-262-3537 and we will verify your benefits for free, typically in about five to ten minutes.
